Heir of Red Bull Run Suspect Hit Police

A founder's grandson energy drink company Red Bull became a suspect in a hit and run that killed a police officer, police said on Monday (09/03/2012).
Bangkok Police said the young man was driving a Ferrari Vorayuth Yoovidhya, hit a police patrol and police dragged several meters in one street in Bangkok in the early hours.
Police nabbed Vorayuth, the estimated age of the end of 20 years, after tracking oil spills from the accident scene to the family home in a posh neighborhood in the capital of Thailand.
Senior police officials, Lt. Gen. Comronwit Toopgrajank, said he himself who led the investigation into the case after a police mencobat cover case with false arrest suspects.
Comronwit also led the police team to search the mansion founder of Red Bull, the late Chaleo Yoovidhaya. From the house, police seized a gray Ferrari allegedly driven Vorayuth dark. The car whose front dent it becomes part of the investigation.
The victim, Sergeant Major Wchean Clanprasert (47) died while on patrol duty in the morning. Thai media reported the officer's car was dragged several meters and a motorcycle at high speed.
Comronwit said the police officer who tried to cover up the case had been suspended.
"A policeman was killed. I can not allow this. If I let this case slip, I better back off," said Comronwit.
"I do not care for any of their influence. If I can not punish the real perpetrators, I would resign."
Vorayuth is a third generation family Yoovidhya, who is ranked fourth richest families in Thailand, According to Forbes magazine their wealth at 5.4 billion dollars.
The founder of Red Bull, Chaleo, died in March. He left the family's various businesses, including shares in a very famous energy drink, a number of hospitals, and housing.
Family Yoovindhaya also the sole importer of Ferrari cars in Thailand.
